Debbie Hull's IN Labor / AT Labor Childbirth Classes
Class Reunions! It was such fun to meet the babies and hear your birth stories! Congratulations to you all!
Next 5-week group series begins March 23, 2021!
Until further notice and pandemic restrictions allow, all classes are being held live, online.
IN Labor / AT Labor is an experiential, interactive course emphasizing every woman's innate knowledge of how to give birth and the importance of mental and emotional aspects of birthing. Classes are designed to thoroughly prepare you for your birth, whatever your birth place: home, hospital or birth center. Course topics include:
Instruction on basic labor vocabulary to help demystify "hospital speak" and to help equip Dad, who is often less familiar with pregnancy and birth lingo, for meaningful conversations about birth planning. Many moms have reported that one of their favorite things about the class is that she and Dad are now TALKING about their upcoming labor and birth.
A discussion of the stages of labor that will help both Mom, with what to expect IN labor, and Dad, with what to expect AT labor
Practical experience with coping techniques, so Mom knows what to do and Dad understands what she is doing
Comfort Measures and Labor Support 101 so Dad will know what to do to support Mom through labor, as well as when and how to do it
Information regarding the benefits/risks of, and alternatives to, obstetric procedures along with techniques for navigating hospital politics and policies, an essential skill for those birthing at home/birth center or in the hospital
How to prepare a birth plan and how to make sure your birth plan stands out in the minds of those who read it
Classes include access to handouts, notes from class and articles, collected over 20 years, to help you in your preparations and encourage you in your choices.
ESPECIALLY FOR DADS:
What to say to a laboring woman
What to never, ever say to a laboring woman
Specific, easy to remember ideas for supporting a woman in labor
The single, most important thing Dad can do for his lover during labor
Join us and see why many Houston area midwives make this class a requirement for their clients!

Private classes are taught in the privacy and comfort of your own home, at our mutual convenience. The advantage of a private class is that if we come to a topic on which you and your birth team require more or less information, we can adjust accordingly. Classes consist of two four-and-a-half to five-and-a-half hour sessions.
Parents Again Refresher Class $150 - Weekdays* $250 - Weekends & After-Hours (Additional travel charges for extreme distances)
Refresher classes are designed to refresh your memories and make a space for planning a second (or third or fourth or seventh) birth. Participants will receive handouts with notes on the topics we discuss, rather than the loan of the binder. Classes are comprised of one, two to three-hour session and are taught in the privacy of your home at a mutually convenient time, often after your older children are down for the night.
