The training I offer is the first step toward CAPPA Labor Doula Certification (CLD). The training is part of the Traditional (In-person) Course. You may read about all the most current options for certification by visiting CAPPA's site.
Your next steps toward certification, after completion of the workshop, will include (note that requirements may change):
Becoming a member of CAPPA (If you are not already a member)
Enrolling in CAPPA Academy in the Labor Doula Program
Reading the Labor Doula Manual, included in the workshop, plus the required books from the required reading list
Ordering, read and complete all online content as outlined in CAPPA Academy
Attending a minimum of three labors/births as a doula and obtain completed evaluations from the parents and healthcare providers as outlined in CAPPA Academy (NOTE: Contact the CAPPA office for information about provisional certification developed as a response to COVID restrictions.)
Creating a list of local resources for your clients
Signing and agreeing to abide by CAPPA's Code of Conduct and Social Media Policy, Grievance Policy, Mission Statement, CAPPA Approach / Philosophy Statement, Vision Statement and the CAPPA Scope of Practice
Passing the essay and multiple choice exams included in CAPPA Academy
Pass the Scope of Practice intensive review
Completing all requirements within two years
